feel the rain on your skin, the rest is still unwritten

There is a land that children love to live in.  My momma calls it  “La-La Land”.

Over in La-La Land, all of the lollipops are your favorite flavor… and it never rains, except when it flowers and dandelions pour from the sunshiney sky.

In this never-ending, never aging place, the trees have names and speak a secret language and the bugs in the grass never bite your ankles.   The sunlight sparkles and and the breeze smells like lavender.

I think that is why I am so drawn to children.  Sometimes, when I am photographing them, I can see their minds wander to the  place that I, too, used to live.  Though my body gets older and older and my memory fails me most of the time,  I think that a piece of my soul will always live in La-La Land.

In fact, maybe I never really left at all.   I am only visiting here.

Thank you, Shelby, for bringing me back  “home”  for an afternoon….
